COOP/GT Ready

Be GTREADY!

Georgia Tech utilizes the web-based Kuali software to develop and maintain the COOP Plans.  Although the COOP program is administered by the Office of Emergency Management (OEM), the plans themselves are developed and maintained by each department.

2020 Georgia Tech Continuity Planning Initiative

  • President's Directive
    • Based upon the directive from the President's Office, all Georgia Tech units shall develop and maintain a Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP).
  • Continuity Plan Manager
    • Each unit should designate a Continuity Plan Manager to work with the Office of Emergency Management to develop the COOP plan for their specific unit.
    • The Continuity Plan Manager should register for an account on GTReady.
    • After registering, email prepare@gatech.edu and let us know which units you are representing.
    • We will link the unit plan to your account and designate you as the Continuity Plan Manager for that unit.
    • The Continuity Plan Manager will be able to add other persons from their unit to assist with the planning.
      • Continuity Plan Editors have access to edit the plan, but cannot add additional persons to the Plan.
      • Continuity Plan Viewers can only view the plan.
  • Planning Process
    • Continuity Plan Managers should work within their unit to identify the Critical Functions of their unit.
      • Critical 1: Must continue (life, health, security)
      • Critical 2: Must continue, perhaps in reduced mode
      • Critical 3: Pause if forced, but must resume within 30 days
      • Deferrable: Resume when conditions permit
    • Not all units will have Critical 1 or 2 functions; that's ok.
    • Identify Essential Personnel and link with critical functions.
      • Critical Functions need multiple persons who have the proper training, access, equipment and authority to complete the function.
      • Their proficiency to complete the function may be reduced compared to the primary personnel; that's ok.

GT Ready Training

Online Training Video (For those that cannot attend in person)

To help units and their COOP planners navigate our online continuity planning software system and to help them build their plans, our office will be delivering several classes to our community.  We encourage every unit to designate a primary COOP planner and have that person complete this training. Training covers:

  • How to use Kuali Ready
  • How to develop a Continuity Plan for your unit
  • How to determine essential functions
  • How to determine essential personnel
  • How to coordinate with your unit on planning

To register for a class, please email prepare@gatech.eduPersons should come to the class with a laptop and be prepared to work within plan on GTReady (whether it has content or not).
